Downy Karvonen – Sound Designer

 

 

As an audio post production Engineer and location sound recordist, Downy Karvonen’s experience includes animation, dramatic, educational, commercial, and documentary productions.  Downy developed his craft as a documentary sound recordist and for the last 9 years has specialized in audio post production.

 

In addition to the prolific and internationally popular Karvonen Films productions, Downy’s soundtracks have been heard on Discovery Channel Europe, USA and Canada.  In a broader scope, he has worked on productions that have been broadcast to 48 countries around the world.  Downy has also ssourced sounds for IMAX Canada.

 

As a contribution to his profession, Downy has donated time and effort to non-profit organizations such as the SPCA and community services, and has mentored a student funded by The National Film Board of Canada for 1 full term.  

 

Downy’s early field experience combined with his technical expertise have provided him with the ability to capture and re-create sound designs for which he has been recognized by numerous award juries at industry festivals.
